The Program On Negotiation recently mentioned that according to a recent study the strength of our negotiation ethics may vary depending on our gender. The article triggered our proposal to organize a webinar on the the issues related to the gender question, focused on the role and position of women in negotiation and mediation. We are very proud to announce Hannah Riley Bowles as our speaker. She will be interviewed by Barbara Oliviera.

Hannah Riley Bowles is a leading expert on how gender influences pay negotiations and, more broadly, on negotiation as a micro-mechanism of inequality. She has been actively involved in negotiation and conflict management training, practice, and research for more than 25 years, having worked for the governments of Argentina, Costa Rica, and Germany. Her current research focuses on women’s leadership advancement, examining both situational barriers and individual strategies. Bowles is Co-director of the Center for Public Leadership, the Women and Public Policy Program and is the Roy E. Larsen Senior Lecturer in Public Policy and Management at the Harvard Kennedy School. She teaches conflict and collaboration in the master of public policy core curriculum and is the faculty director of Women and Power, the Kennedy School’s executive program for women in senior leadership from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She won the Kennedy School’s 2003 Manuel Carballo Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Barbara Oliveira is a lawyer, thought leader, process designer and facilitator, and professional mediator in socio-environmental conflict transformation. She is a Master Integral Coach and member of the CBI Global network and holds a PhD and a Masters in International Law and International Dispute Settlement. Throughout her career, she has supported more than 2500 leading organizations and leaders in cracking wicked problems and devising sustainable solutions on themes of sustainable development, supply chains, biodiversity, climate change, energy transitions, human organizations, globally. In the Netherlands, she runs the Collaboration Laboratory supporting leaders and organizations in their efforts to develop and implement collaborative solutions, policies and strategies.
