Adil Najam

Dr. Adil Najam is inaugural Dean Emeritus at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and Professor of International Relations and of Earth and Environment. He served as the founding Dean of the Pardee School (2014-2022), and was awarded Dean Emeritus status by Boston University in 2022, while continuing as Professor at the Pardee School.

In the past he has served in several capacities at different Universities. Amongst others, he taught at MIT and at the Harvard Program on Negotiation. He was author of over 100 scholarly papers and a dozen books. Dr. Najam was a lead author for the third and fourth assessments of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Dr. Najam was elected Trustee on the Board of WWF-International and of The Asia Foundation, chairs the Board of the Luc Hoffmann Institute in Geneva and has several other functions as Council or Board member. He was also a much loved teacher in the Dutch International Program on the Management of Sustainability (IPMS).
