Barbara Oliveira has since 2008 served as an MGA expert, trainer and coach to leaders and organizations in the public and private sector. In the Netherlands, she was Faculty of the International Program on the Management of Sustainability for over a decade, training Dutch and global negotiators on consensus building, facilitation and achieving sustainable outcomes using interest-based negotiations. Also trained as a Lawyer, a Mediator, an Integral Coach and a CSR professional, Barbara has acted in various capacities in support to more sustainable futures to governments, corporates, NGOs, IGOs, Academia and individuals in Brazil and abroad.

She previously worked at the World Trade Organization and UNCTAD, in Geneva and has chaired working groups at multilateral platforms such as the LEDS GP Climate Resilience WG, aimed at creating the space for governments, the private sector and researchers to develop climate smart policies and plans.  Barbara also led the largest leadership initiative engaging the top 40 Brazilian companies towards climate change strategies and action, as well as the negotiations among key industry sectors in Brazil for a common climate pledge before the Brazilian government for Paris COP 21.

Since 2010, Barbara has led Ecosynergy, a consultancy engaging all sectors on multiparty processes for climate change, biodiversity protection, energy transitions and sustainable urbanization and in 2019 she relocated to the Netherlands, where she has led the Collaboration Lab ever since.

Barbara has worked in collaboration with many academic institutions, including Wageningen University, Cambridge University and Fundação Getulio Vargas. She has published books on International Dispute Settlement and papers on designing sound processes for effective collaboration. She is highly intrigued by the potential that interest based negotiated processes may have for enduring solutions to our most pressing problems and has developed a full curriculum on training negotiators to create value using the SDGs implementation as a platform. As an organizational development consultant and coach, she is mesmerized by the idea of creating organizations and partnerships where people can thrive in as their full selves. Barbara favorite engagement is to create capacity for MGA negotiations in an environment that is fun, dynamic and reflexive (all at once!) and allows for inner leadership development as well as skills and competences built up.
Barbara has a PhD in Law (UFMG, Brazil), a Masters in Law (Honors, University of London) and and MBA in Responsible Leadership (Honors, Tias Business School).
